STIHL AP System professional cordless toolsNew in the battery-powered STIHL AP System for 2021 are a range of professional tools built to take on the most demanding tasks. These new additions are ideal for landscapers, groundscare workers and gardeners and include 5 new powerful cordless tools; a Kombitool, a long-reach hedge trimmer, 2 brushcutters and a pole pruner.

All of these tools share a similar operating handle as well as some other functions so using the tools is simple as the switches and handles are familiar.

The battery is also well-balanced in the centre of the handle, and all have a three-level speed-selection and LED display so you can choose the level to suit the task at hand or to conserve the battery when full power isn’t required. There is also a mounting point for the newer design of the STIHL Smart Connector 2 A on the power tool housing. The newer design launches in autumn 2021, but in the meantime, you can still easily attach the older-style connector to the tool.

All the pro cordless tools are designed to be used in the rain, can be used without ear protection (except when using the blower attachment on the Kombitool) and have EC motors, which means you can also vary the power of the tool from the trigger, as well as via the speed selector.

The KMA135 R KombiEngine

STIHL KMA 135 R KombiEngine toolThe KMA 135 R is our first Kombitool with a battery slot. The tool is robust and powerful making it ideal for a number of tasks due to the wide range of attachments that can be fitted to it, including the existing brushcutter, scrub cutter, blower, hedge trimmer, pole pruner, sweeper, edging and soil cultivation attachments. For existing Kombi users, adding a cordless option, or moving over to cordless with your Kombi tool fleet has never been easier. STIHL HLA 135 long-reach hedge trimmerThe STIHL HLA 135 Long-reach Hedge Trimmer

Our HLA 135 long-reach hedge trimmer uses the same improved and strengthened cutting bar as the STIHL HL 92 and HL 94 petrol tools, but with a battery slot instead of the petrol engine. It is our most powerful cordless long-reach hedge trimmer in the range and is ideal for professional use in noise-sensitive areas. It’s ideal for cutting tall shrubs and bushes as well as plants near the ground and to make all jobs as straight forward as possible, the cutter bar can be adjusted through 145° without the use of tools so it’s easy to get the perfect angle for cutting for above head height, to the side, and at ground level. At a length of 249 cm, even tall hedges can be tackled from ground level too. Working time with the recommended AP 200 battery is up to 64 minutes for optimum weight and balance, but the AP 300 and AP 300 S batteries can also be used if longer working times are required.

The STIHL FSA 135 Cordless Brushcutters

STIHL FSA 135 Cordless brushcutterThe FSA 135 (bike handle) and FSA 135 R (round handle) machines are our most robust and powerful cordless brushcutters in the AP System. They are well suited to mowing grass and scrub in noise-sensitive settings and are incredibly versatile due to the solid driveshaft, which means you can attach a wide range of STIHL cutting tools. Whilst they are relatively light, very well-balanced and simple to handle, they’re certainly not short of power for the tougher mowing jobs.

These cordless tools also have a clever feature that recognises the load from the cutting tool it is fitted with and will optimise the RPM on the head to tackle the job its doing. If it’s under low load, it will drop the RPM and conserve battery. On the STIHL FSA 135 R, the working time with the recommended AP 300 S battery is up to 100 minutes, whilst the working time for the FSA 135 with recommended AP 300 S battery is up to 45 minutes.

STIHL HTA 135 Pole PrunerThe STIHL HTA 135 Pole Pruner

The HTA 135 battery-powered pole pruner is due to launch in late 2021 and will be the most powerful cordless pole pruner in the AP System. Quiet and with low vibration, it’s ideal for professional use in tree maintenance, orchards, removing dead wood and breakage from storms. With an extendable pole which gives it a length of 285–405 cm, it is ideal for cutting over 5m in height, which is approximately the height of a street lamp in Great Britain. This means many jobs can be tackled from the ground, rather than climbing the tree saving plenty of time. Fitted with a 3/8“ P saw chain, this tool is designed to be able to cut efficiently through sizeable branches. The lightweight magnesium gearhead helps with manoeuvrability and balance, whilst a tough branch hook helps with the removal of loose cuttings from the tree. The extendable shaft is a great addition to this cordless tool – it’s very rigid which helps give the tool precise biting characteristics and a precise cut. The working time with the recommended AP 300 S battery is up to 45 minutes.
