Growing theft of equipment within the tree care industry has sparked a new and free initiative that aims to deter criminals and reunite owners with their lost kit.
Arbsafe, created by Arbtalk.co.uk founder Steve Bullman, aims to make it significantly harder for criminals to pass on stolen goods by allowing users to register their business assets in a private and secure online database, listing serial and model numbers as a record of their equipment and tools – anything from their chainsaws and chippers to heavy plant.
Users can then flag up any registered assets that are subsequently stolen, which will immediately appear on the Arbsafe home page for open public viewing.
As the main sponsor of Arbsafe, STIHL knows that arborists and anyone who works in woodland or grounds maintenance, relies on their kit for their livelihoods. Whilst theft prevention remains an ongoing challenge, we do encourage all professionals to use this site to register your equipment, and that you monitor it on a regular basis to report any thefts or ‘found’ kit.
